The UN noted Kenya's success in combating locusts

Kenya will soon get rid of the locust invasion thanks to the measures taken in the country, said the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Cyril Ferrand in an official statement. According to him, only two of Kenya's 29 insect-infested districts still have locusts. In the coming days, their number will be reduced to one, and in three weeks Kenya will be freed from a large-scale invasion, Ferrand said. He stressed that FAO was already successfully combating the second generation of locusts, but the risk of new individuals was still high. According to Ferrand, about 400 billion locusts have already been destroyed throughout the region.
