Georgian Parliament adopted amendments to the Electoral Code in the second reading

Amendments to the Electoral Code of Georgia in the second reading were adopted by a majority vote by deputies of the country's parliament on July 2. It is reported by Public Television. According to journalists, an extraordinary session was convened to conduct the vote. The changes were supported by 94 members of parliament. A number of deputies supported the innovations with the condition that their additions would be taken into account in the third reading. Recall that in the first reading the amendments to the Electoral Code of Georgia were adopted on July 1. The new provisions suggest a ban on approaching people within a radius of 25 meters from the polling station, including for exit polls or interviews. Also, the powers of the State Audit Service to control the financial activities of the media were removed from the code. In the third reading, the bill on amendments is scheduled to be considered today, July 2.
