Three people died due to powerful showers in southwestern China

Heavy showers led to the death of three people and the disappearance of another 12 in Sichuan province in southwestern China, Xinhua News Agency reported on June 27. Heavy showers covered the vast territories of Sichuan since the morning of June 26. In Mianning County, 211 mm of precipitation fell, which was a serious blow to the village of Damavu. One local resident died, another nine people were missing, local authorities said. In addition, a car and a minivan were demolished from the road into the river due to rains after one of the sections of the national highway in Sichuan province was flooded. Two people died, three more went missing. Local authorities are making every effort to combat the rampant elements. More than 7,000 locals were relocated to safety.
