Memorial plates with the names of Red Army soldiers inaugurated in the Czech Republic
In the city of Orzhekhov in the Czech Republic on June 26, the opening ceremony of ten memorial plates was held with the names of the Red Army fighters who died during the liberation of the city. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Repair and restoration work at the honorary military burial was carried out at the expense of the Russian Federation. Thanks to the joint archival research work of the representative office of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Club of the Red Army of the city of Brno, it was possible to establish 1126 previously unknown names of dead soldiers and officers, which were previously taken into account as unknown. The ceremony was attended by Russian Ambassador to the Czech Republic Alexander Zmeevsky, Russian Consul General in Brno Alexander Budaev, head of the city of Orzhekhov Tomas Dudik, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, embassies of Armenia and Kazakhstan, representatives of public organizations and local residents. The memorial complex in Orzhekhov is one of fifteen large military graves in the Czech Republic, on which 1,467 soldiers and officers of the Red Army who died during the Bratislava-Brnov offensive operation were buried.
