Between Hitler and Stalin: how Ukraine has received the Carpathians
29 June 1945 Transcarpathia became part of the USSR. The contract on transfer of this region of Czechoslovakia, which he entered in the period between the two world wars, was signed in the Kremlin with the participation of Joseph Stalin and the Czechoslovak President Edvard Benes. One of the main initiators of the expansion of the territory of Ukraine, and with it the whole of the USSR at the expense of Transcarpathia, was Nikita Khrushchev.
